Read Head 2.0 is on the way. Based on the same AS5311 chip, version 2 now works on 5V rather than 3.3V to allow compatibility with other adapter units (Touch DRO for example). It also addresses a problem where overtightening the retaining nut could pull the connector out.
retDRO Adaptor
The retDRO adaptor is based on an ESP32 chip and reads the output from the read heads. It then transfers this information to an Android device running Touchdro software (free on the google play store) giving a small, economical, fully featured Digital Read out. It is powered via a USB wall wart (not supplied, 1amp output required) and has 3 M5 sensor cables already fitted. These screw directly to the connector on the read head.
The big red button is used to power on the unit and also displays the bluetooth connection status, if its flashing its not connected, solidly lit its connected.
Magnetic Tape
High accuracy German made magnetic tape is the final part of the retDRO system.
This tape acts like a magnetic ruler allowing a resolution of 512 steps per mm that’s a resolution of 0.002mm or 13,005 steps per inch.
